GOOD Based on 419 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor holidaylover67Verified OUT OF THIS WORLD WOW..Well we’ve stayed at some nice hotels but this is something else!!! We were in Northumberland for my birthday and chose the Tempus and what a choice. There’s so many different rooms to choose from all decorated uniquely. We stayed in the bird room and it was AMAZING. All the staff are so nice nothing is too much. Every part of the hotel is so unique I can’t really explain it. We’d just like to say a massive thank you to Olivia the bar maid as she really made our stay. We ate at the hotel each night and the food really is Michelin star standard the beef pie was to die for! Breakfast was lovely and it was nice to meet a lovely member of staff from Leicestershire. Overall, there was nothing at all I could say I could complain about. We’re off there again in July. Thank you Mr. Shell for a fantastic 3 days in an amazing hotel. See you soonPosted on Tripadvisor Mark ReaperVerified Can do better. We had HIGH Hopes. The visit was memorable and relaxing. There were issues - definitely not what we would expect from a site boasting 5*Star Service and the price tag associated with it. Lakeside cabins - Amazing! Suggestion - Blankets needed for the balcony The lookout - beautiful setting for a relaxing break. Breakfast and restaurant - divine! The Sunday roast is a must! Reception team - everything felt like a chore. We will be back - but we won’t be rushing! What saved this from being a 3*Star review was the restaurant, bar team and the early morning security which saved us having to have cold showers before work on a Monday morning! The Tempus - “the bones are there” but we were left with a distinct feeling of Meh.Posted on Tripadvisor 4407KRVerified Super Sunday lunch . . . . . . a warm welcome, as usual; drinks before being seated by friendly, enthusiastic staff. Very busy with lots of families and diners enjoying the same in a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed a lamb Sunday lunch, fish and chips and Tempus burger with a smooth bottle of red wine . . . super!Posted on Tripadvisor CountrybumkinVerified Wonderful long birthday weekend - thank you to all at The Tempus! We have just returned from 4 nights at this lovely hotel to celebrate mine and my young son's birthdays. The hotel is in a stunning location and is beautifully decorated and pristine. Everything is really solid so you don't hear other guests unlike in some hotels. The food is wonderful and all the staff work incredibly hard in a really tough industry where, let's face it, people love to complain about even silly little things. They really do a fab job! Our room was decorated with balloons, happy birthday signs as well as having cards chocolate truffles and even a bag of haribo for my son. Then at dinner we were given 'birthday boards" with Happy Birthday written in chocolate and sweet treats. We felt really spoilt. The teepee on Friday and Saturday nights is so much fun with brilliant singers providing live music. The breakfasts are amazing - wonderfully cooked to order and real quality produce. We live 5 hours away but we will definitely be back again. Thanks to all at The Tempus for giving us such a wonderful break.Posted on Tripadvisor Misti66Verified Fabulous hotel, lovely staff Stayed in this fabulous hotel for 4 nights as a birthday treat for my 60th birthday. We had a Farmhouse room with a hot tub, and it was just gorgeous. The room was lovely and the hot tub was perfect, and we made very good use of it. We ate each night in the Orangerie and the food was amazing, although expensive. We had a dinner bed and breakfast rate, and the £35 allowance was absolute nowhere near enough to cover dinner, more like £85 pp. Breakfast was fabulous, the coffee was especially good! Service was a little hit and miss, sometimes it was great, other times things didn’t get delivered, and the waiting staff didn’t check to see if the food was good, or if we needed more drinks, etc. all in all we had a fabulous time but a few things would have made it perfect. Air conditioning in the bedroom was have been very good, we didn’t sleep well as it was so hot, the shower was scalding hot and there was no way to adjust the temperature ( it stumped both of us) and the housekeeping staff were very noisy. their base seemed to be opposite our room, and we were woken each morning at 7.30 am with loud chatting and banging, so no long lie for us! This few things aside we had a fabulous time, thank you to all the lovely staff.Posted on Tripadvisor LesdawVerified Simply wonderful...... A real surprise awaits you here when you venture in to the restaurant. It is so well designed and so well set out. It was quite different to what I expected, but better in so many ways. The detailed interior design across the various areas within the beautiful bar and restaurant is so nice to take notice of. There are so many things to see and be interested in, you almost forget you are going in here to dine. Onto the main event. The food and service we had was excellent. Very friendly, efficient and polite staff. The correct bit of banter between the waiting on staff and ourselves was welcoming and made for a lovely experience. The food I have to say was delightful. It was so fresh, well prepared and very well presented. There were 3 of us at this sitting and we all loved the fayre on offer. It was a Sunday afternoon when we visited and there were people coming and going all of the time, very busy which was a good sign. All in all , it is a fantastic establishement , very well run with delicious food. Try it as I am sure you will like it.Posted on Tripadvisor Iain DVerified Great location and lovely hotel. Had a lovely stay here with my wife recently, staying a Saturday night. We got a room upgrade which was a nice touch. The room we got was excellent, nice and large with a lovely bathroom. Shame there was no seating area in the room though. The room was nice and quiet as well. Food and service was excellent too.Posted on Tripadvisor KerlausVerified Truly excellent dining experience. I wanted to treat my parents to dinner during their stay with my family (who were also visiting). We’ve been to the Tempus several times without them so I knew it would deliver. And of course, it didn’t disappoint. First of all, the staff are just great: real personalities, incredibly friendly, and exceptionally welcoming. The Tempus offers an atmosphere that is second to none. I’d returned from San Francisco on the morning of our reservation and I was worried my jet lag would get the better of me, but with the welcoming staff, delicious food, and of course, seeing family, I totally forgot about being tired. In fact, the evening was truly energising. The food is wonderful. My parents, who are particularly hard to please, said it was the perfect evening; my mum even said that it was the best fish she’d ever had. I had the burger which was delicious. During our previous visit a few months prior, I had the fillet steak which I can honestly say was the tastiest steak I’ve eaten. As a final note, the male waiter that served our table was just magnificent. He told me a bit about the restaurant’s/owner’s ethos about sourcing ingredients locally, and just how much passion has gone into the project. We’ll absolutely be back during our next visit to the area. Definitely the highlight of our break.Posted on Tripadvisor Kelly FVerified Quality in every way My 2nd time staying at the sensational Tempus. You cannot fault a single thing! Travelling alone for business and feeling like you are home is rare. The most stunning location, gorgeous, modern clean rooms, excellent food and service! Big thank you to Caitlin who dealt with my request without hesitation. Such a pleasure to stay here.
